Michael “Mickey” J. Schiavone, Jr. of North Brunswick, NJ passed away peacefully with his family by his side at home on December 30, 2023. He was 88 years old. Mickey was employed as a postal carrier by the United States Postal Service and also drove cabs for Victory Cab Company.
He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army. Mickey’s Catholic faith served as a foundation of his life as evidenced by his devotion to his parish - Our Lady of Peace, loyal membership in the Knights of Columbus and Catholic War Veterans, and the way he generously volunteered his time for the Consolata Fathers. Mickey was devoted to his family and treasured his time with them. He was a fan of the NY Mets.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years Helen in 2016, sons Anthony “Tony” and Vincent Schiavone, and brother Jimmy Schiavone; Mickey is survived by his son Paul Schiavone of Milltown, NJ; grandchildren: Holly, Joey, Daniel, and Tommy; and brother Joseph Schiavone.
Family and friends will be received Friday, January 19, 2024 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at the Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown, NJ. The funeral mass will celebrated Saturday at 10:00am at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, North Brunswick followed by burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the GoFundMe account for Darlene (DeSantis) Sawyer to help her pay for her 2 cancer surgeries. Darlene has been a lifelong friend of the Schiavone family. Any amount is appreciated. Darlene's Go Fund Me
