Mike was a talented athlete himself, in particular in softball, where he played with the champion Park Pub Gators in the Highland Park Softball League. He also enjoyed his time coaching the Lady Gators.
Mike loved nature and the outdoors, whether it was biking, hiking, swimming or kayaking, he would share pictures he took of rare birds or animals or of anything interesting that he spotted in his travels. He was a bicycle enthusiast and looked forward to participating in the annual NY Bike Tour, which he did many times. Mike could be seen riding his bike around town in all kinds of weather. He loved swimming at the Jersey shore and loved to travel. He traveled to Taiwan several times, as well as many places within the US and the Caribbean. Music was another passion of Mikes, and he saw numerous concerts over the years, especially of rock, pop, punk, reggae and ska bands.
People knew Mike as a friendly and kind person, and he will be missed by his many friends and neighbors. He loved his family more than life itself and they loved him back in equal measure.
