Lois Monaghan Obituary

Lois J. Monaghan went home to her heavenly father on October 24, 2023. Born in New Brunswick, she lived all her life in Milltown. She was predeceased by her parents Harold Monaghan and Laura Jensen Monaghan. She is survived by her cousins Barbara Mundy Petry and Trina Jensen Mehr.

Lois was a graduate of Milltown Public Schools and South River High School. She continued her studies in piano and oil painting. She instructed piano in Milltown for many years. Lois was a recognized artist. She received several awards for her art and was honored to receive special recognition for her Rain and Mill Pond paintings.

Lois was legally blind but did not let her disability keep her from enjoying her music, art, and creative writing. She also had a great love of animals, especially cats. She was a dedicated and loving rescuer of many cats throughout her life, particularly Kris, Clancy, and Casey.

Lois was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Church. She was a member of the Women’s Guild, and taught bible school and Sunday school.

Donations in her memory may be sent to St. Paul’s Church in Milltown or to any non-kill rescue shelter of your choice.
