Leo V. Priola, 64, of Great Kills, Staten Island, passed away at Staten Island University Hospital on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Leo attended New Utrecht High School and graduated in 1976. Leo went on to study at John Jay College and in 1982 joined the New York City Police Department. Leo dedicated 20 years of service for the NYPD in Brooklyn South. After his retirement he pursued a career in Nursing and studied at the College of Staten Island. Leo Went on to become a Registered Nurse Case Manager at the Addeo House.
Leo loved to travel and spend time with his cousins and friends. He enjoyed music especially the Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd, Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead.
Leo was always one to help others. He had a passion for giving back to his community and was extremely active and a proud member of The Knights of Columbus. He devoted over 40 years in the NYPD Holy Name Society, Columbia Association, The Fraternal Order of Police, Anchor Club, Shomrim Society and 10-13 Club.
Leo is predeceased by his father, Vincent F. Priola and his brother, Ralph Priola.
Leo is survived by his loving mother, Josephine; Cherished sisters, Annie Allen (Mark), Louise Romano (Russell) and Mary Minichiello ( Jerry); His sister-in-law, Susan Priola and many loving nieces and nephews. Leo is also survived by his companion, Joanne McNamara.
Friends and Family may visit on Friday July 21, 2023 at Colonial Funeral Home from 4pm-8pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St Clare R.C. Church on Saturday at 9:45am. Entombment will follow at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery in Marlboro, NJ.
