Blaine Arthur Layton, 96, of Milltown, NJ passed away peacefully at his home, with loving family by his side on March 18, 2022. Born and raised in New Brunswick, Blaine lived his entire adult life in Milltown. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. Blaine went onto a 41 year career with Public Service Electric and Gas Company. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of New Brunswick for many years. Blaine engaged in many hobbies. He was a hunter, raised beagles, and enjoyed annual trips to Gettysburg. Blaine was an avid reader. He loved to read about American History and faithfully read two newspapers daily until just one week before his death. He also enjoyed discussing sports and current events with family.
Blaine was predeceased in 2018 by Evelyn, his loving wife of 38 years. He was also predeceased by his first wife Joyce and their daughter Bonnie. He is survived by three stepchildren and their spouses: Donna and John Baird of Freehold, NJ; Paul and Kathy DeAngelis of Milltown, NJ; and Claudia and Michael Carron of Red Wing, MN; five grandchildren: Scott Budow, Sharon Ignoscia (Paul), Susan DeAngelis-Stojkovic, Paul DeAngelis III (Jennifer), Craig Carron (Francia); and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Eleanor Scheck. In addition to his family, he was loved by many friends and neighbors.
Private funeral services will be held on Thursday March 24 at the Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown with interment open to all to follow at 12pm at Elmwood Cemetery, North Brunswick.
