Steve Stetzko of Milltown, NJ passed peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2017 after a brief illness from surgery.  He was surrounded by the love of his family. He was 92 years old. Steve was born in Perth Amboy, NJ on May 26, 1925.  He was the youngest of 3 brothers and 4 sisters. He graduated from Perth Amboy High School where he was the star pitcher for the Perth Amboy Panther's baseball team. Nicknamed "Rip", he continued to play throughout his life in sponsored leagues, semi pro teams, community teams and for the Army. He was a huge fan of the Yankees and was glad to be able to still watch them make it to the playoffs this year.  He was drafted into the military at 18 years of age and fought in WWII with the 63rd Infantry Division Blood and Fire. He married Margaret Doerr of Milltown in 1952 and together they had 4 daughters. He had a grandchild Andrew who meant the world to him. He worked at Mobil Chemical Company for 20 + years as a senior research chemist and retired from there in the 1980's. Steve was talented in many things. He built his own house in 1953. He was a woodworking enthusiast, an artist, had terrific gardens, built model train scenes, fixed all his daughters cars all of the time, and was the resident painter, plumber and electrician in the Stetzko household. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica. In his retirement he enjoyed more specialized woodworking projects, army reunions and family trips, playing with his grandson, and family events. Steve is survived by his wife of 65 years Margaret, daughter Chris Stetzko of North Brunswick, daughter Beverly Polcou and Don Caruso of North Brunswick, daughter Jeanne and Chuck Horberg of Hillsborough, Karen Albretsen of Milltown, grandson Andrew Horberg and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his father Wasyl and mother Julia (Shaute) Stetzko, brothers John, Anton and Michael and sisters Anna Miluszewski, Josephine Buck, Helen Suich, and Mary Stetzko, and his sibling's spouses.
