Gerald J. Drennan of Franklin Park, NJ passed away peacefully on September 30, 2019 at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, New Brunswick, NJ. He was 84 years old. Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, Gerald resided there until relocating with his wife to Franklin Park in 1995. He honorably served his country as a member of the US Army. Gerald was one of five brothers to proudly serve as a member of the Jersey City Fire Department. He represented the first generation of Jersey City firefighters that has now come to include 17 members of his family. Gerald retired after 28 years on the Department. He was also an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer. Gerald is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Lorraine (née Gonzales), sons and daughters-in-law Gerald Peter and Theresa Drennan and Thomas Patrick and Faith Drennan, daughter and son-in-law Diane and Jim Pavia, grandchildren Peter and Amanda, Max and Luke, Andrew and Kaitlyn, and sister Florence. Family and friends will be received Thursday 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown, NJ. The funeral service will be celebrated Friday 11am at the funeral home followed by entombment at Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
